Tracy Ma

Tracy started learning clarinet at the age of eleven, under the tutelage of Tao Chunxiao, who is a professor at China Central Conservatory of Music and the chairman of the China Clarinet Association. Tracy has a Bachelor of Music major in Clarinet performance from Xi’an Conservatory of Music guided by professor Chi Zheng. She gained a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree in clarinet performance from the University of Auckland, mentored by Dr Marie Ross, who is the president of the New Zealand National Clarinet Association. She is currently completing her Master degree with Dr Marie. Tracy was a winner of the Ken Wilson Prize Clarinet Scholarship in the years 2018 and 2019 from the University of Auckland.

Tracy moved to New Zealand in 2011. She has performed with numerous orchestras around New Zealand. Tracy has also been the clarinet tutor at ACG Parnell College and St Peter’s College. Her student has achieved outstanding results in musical grade exams.

Tracy has joined Blockhouse Bay School of Music since summer school 2022. She looks forward to engaging in some fun clarinet lessons with new students.
